We got you.

What are the common causes of female fertility issues?

Common causes include ovulation disorders (e.g., PCOS), blocked fallopian tubes, endometriosis, uterine abnormalities, thyroid issues, advanced maternal age, and lifestyle factors, poor ovarian reserve and genetic disorders.

How are female fertility issues diagnosed?

A combination of history & investigations like pelvic exams, hormonal blood tests, ovulation tracking, transvaginal ultrasounds, hysterosalpingography (HSG), and laparoscopy may be used. Investigation of male partner is also mandatory.

Are fertility issues more common in women than men?

Infertility affects both sexes equally; roughly 30-40% of infertility cases are due to female factors, 30-40% male, and the rest are combined or unexplained.

What is PCOS and how does it affect fertility?

Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS) is a hormonal disorder that can prevent regular ovulation, making it harder to conceive where the quality of oocytes are also affected.

What is the success rate of fertility treatments?

Success depends on age, cause of infertility, duration of infertility and type of treatment. IVF success rates range from 25-60% per cycle, highest in women under 35.

How does age impact female fertility?

Fertility significantly declines after age 35, with a sharp drop after 40 due to reduced ovarian reserve and egg quality.

Are fertility treatments painful?

Most diagnostic and treatment procedures are minimally invasive or well-managed with medication. IVF involves some injections and minor discomfort during egg retrieval.

How long should I try to conceive before seeing a doctor?

See a fertility specialist after 12 months of trying (or 6 months if you are over 35). If there are other medical conditions, it would be prudent to consult earlier.

Can lifestyle changes improve female fertility?

Yes. Healthy diet, regular exercise, stress management, avoiding alcohol and smoking, and maintaining an ideal weight can all improve fertility.

Can stress and mental health affect fertility?

Yes. Chronic stress and emotional strain can disrupt ovulation and hormone balance, potentially affecting fertility outcomes.

It starts with a question. Our fertility experts take it from there.
